Pool Rules
This is not a comprehensive list of all pool rules nor is it in any specific order. A complete list of rules and regulations are posted at Southland Family Club's main gate. These are some important reminders to consider.
Rule #1
Children are not allowed to sit on the edge of the pool during hourly break.
Rule #2
Please stay off the lane rope and out of the lap lane when it's being used.
Rule #3
Horseplay in-and-out of the pool is not allowed.
Rule #4
Float sizes and usage will be at the discretion of the life guard on duty.
Rule #5
One person on the diving board only. On the high dive, only one person may be on the landing stairs behind the board.
Rule #6
Proper use of diving board requires the diver to go off the board and exit the water immediately to right or left (no swimming back to board).
RULE #7
Encourage taller and older children to move towards the deeper end of the pool when the shallow area is crowded with younger swimmers.
RULE #8
Food is not permitted around the pool by members, guests, or employees.
RULE #9
Diving blocks may not be used without lifeguard permission.
RULE #10
No talking or distracting the lifeguards in their chairs unless it specifically pertains to one of their duties.
RULE #11
Any abuse of the Southland facility or pool observed by a member should be reported immediately.
RULE #12
Please use special care in the parking lot area, there are young children always around.
RULE #13
Please practice good hygiene by taking a soap and water shower at home or at the pool before entering the water.
RULE #14
Avoid swallowing pool water.
RULE #15
Children and adults who have diarrhea/vomiting should NOT enter the pool.
RULE #16
Escort young children to the toilet frequently, and clean them thoroughly before allowing them back into the pool.
RULE #17
Infants and younger children who wear diapers or pull-ups are required to wear swim diapers in BOTH pools.
RULE #18
Stool or fecal matter found in either pool will result in the evacuation and closing of the pool for 24 hours. THIS IS THE LAW.
Rule #19
A lifeguard may be present at the activity pool during peak times, but it is the responsibility of all parents to supervise their younger children in the shallow pool at ALL times, even if a lifeguard is on duty.
RULE #20
Remember, no one does a better job of watching your child at the pool than you do. Please put your child's safety first and foremost.
